Much of what you want, you were taught to want.

Habits, other people's expectations, demands you absorbed as a child and still carry. None of it arrives labelled as someone else's: it speaks in your voice and has been deciding for you for years. Telling one from the other is inner authority, and it can be trained.

In none of these is it willpower that fails. What fails is the source: the direction came from outside, came in very early and can no longer be told apart from what is yours. What is missing is not strength. It is knowing which of the two voices is yours, and that can be trained. See how it is trained

Knowing where you stand.

This is what training inner authority gives you: knowing where you stand, having ground under your feet, knowing what you want and knowing you can go for it. And before anything else, knowing which part of all that is yours.

Nobody installs it from outside. It is trained every day, with concrete tools and an order you learn: write down what happened, look at where it came from, and make the next decision with that in front of you. You do not need to believe anything to begin, and it is worth beginning before the decision that weighs arrives: when it does, there is no time left.

This does not weigh the same for everyone

Men are given, almost always, room to find out what they want and go for it. Women are taught to behave, to moderate, to placate, to smooth things over; to go after what is their own, much less. It does not happen to every woman and it is not only a women’s matter, but it happens often, and when it does this work starts further down: before deciding, you have to win back the right to want something. Verónica went looking for it in books and found something else.

That is where the method came from, and it is not a method for women: anyone who wants to decide on their own terms can train it.

About Verónica

What Verónica has seen

I found that the psychology written by men does not describe exactly what a woman lives. That the body is an integral part of the system and has a language of its own. That emotions are not mental abstractions but forces living in a biological system.

What gets built

Deciding costs less when you know where you are deciding from. And when the decision that weighs arrives, the compass has to be built already.

  • Clearer decisions, with fewer laps around them first
  • A direction of your own, instead of borrowing it from what others have
  • Habits that hold on their own: what you study, what you eat, how you sleep

First, see what decides for you.

Fifteen questions, three minutes, no email. You come away with a map of how you decide and of which part of that you put there yourself.
